Warwickshire Reminiscence Action Project (WRAP) NEW FREE Singing and Music Group

Warwickshire Reminiscence Action Project (WRAP) is delighted to announce that in January it will be launching its new monthly Singing and Music for people with dementia and their carers, generously funded by Stratford Town Trust.

Singing and music are valuable tools for people affected by dementia as they offer numerous benefits that can enhance quality of life. Singing is fun and can help a person to feel better by enhancing their mood, reducing anxiety and giving a feeling of wellbeing.

Group singing and music activities bring people together to help build social connections, provide entertainment and comfort improving cognitive function by engaging multiple areas of the brain involved with processing music.

Music can evoke powerful emotions and unlock long term memories helping people to reconnect with their past. It helps with communication between the person with dementia and their carer, reducing carer stress.

The group will be led by Fiona Coombes who runs Singing for Mind and Health sessions across Coventry and Warwickshire.

The group is FREE to attend and will be held on the 3rd Thursday of every month 11am – 12 noon at Bishopton Community Centre, and everyone is welcome.
